Project and Project Server 2010 - First Look

There is a lot of new information concerning Microsoft Project 2010 and Project Server 2010 is coming out of the Microsoft Project Conference in Phoenix this week. I'll run down a summary of what's been revealed so far:

Overview of improvements to Project 2010:
  • Simple and Intuitive User Experience - This means Fluent User Interface (aka the Ribbon) is now used thoughout the entire Office suite, including SharePoint 2010. Also, Project Server no longer uses AJAX instead of ActiveX controls.
  • Enhanced Collaboration and Reporting - Syncronizing with SharePoint tasks lists is now seamless and two-way. Dashboards and drilldown views are available out of the box.
  • Unified Project and Portfolio Management - PerformancePoint and Project Portfolio Server have been tightly integrated.
  • Scalable and Connected Platform - The collaboration options now available allow project management to scale from a single project manager all the way to the largest enterprises.
